Accountants play a vital role
in the business world. May it be big or
small businesses. What comes to our mind
when we heard of accountants. We see
numbers, balance sheets, and columnar books.
I remember when I had a basic accounting training, it confuses me
somehow. Maybe because, I don’t love
mathematics and not well- versed innumbers .
I only study it to pass the course.
I cannot imagine with the accountants.
Numbers must be their flings, and mathematics the first love. It may sound funny, but this is a fact. You could never be a good accountant if you
don’t have a good sense of numbers. In
the real job, you have to balance up to a single centavo.
How do you find a competent
accountant?
·
First, know what are the things you would like your accountant
do for your business. Does it include
computing and filing of taxes for your business? The scope of jobshe will render to you will
determine her professional fee. There
are now lots of accounting firms that they already come up with a uniform
tariff. But, I believe it can be
negotiated and agreed upon.
·
Second, check on the list of accountants for your contact. Does not have to be from an accounting firm
because it may be expensive. There are
registered accountants that chose to work freelance. This is cheaper since she is not maintaining
an office.
·
Third, check on the educational background. Good educational background would mean consistency
and competency. Our days or years in
school hound us to become good or competent in our field of works.
·
Lastly, call to set an interview. Personal appearance is important to get a
feel of the person. Sometimes our mind
will find it to difficult to make a decision.
In this case, we have to trust our heart. The disposition of a person in life if cannot
be seen, may be felt.
Ask questions that will let the
person detail herself. Reformat a
certain question to get a consistent answer.
As she talks study the face and gestures. This will somehow contribute to your attitude
search. Positive attitude towards each
other is very important to maintain a harmonious
owner-accountant relationship. Moreso,
with a positive attitude towards work.
